Dynomax cat back exhaust 17315. I chose this exhaust for a couple of reasons.

1. Sound, i wanted a better than stock sound without being so loud as to disturb the neighbors. I didnt want a heavy resonance sound. I found a clip on youtube of this same setup on a 3.0 Ranger and liked it. http://www.youtube.com/user/0rangeredge2 If you like the louder sound you can order it with the Ultra Flow Welded straight through muffler as opposed to the Super Turbo i have installed.

2. Price, $167.95 from Summit. complete cat back. Its not stainless but it is aluminized so im hoping it will stand up to the elements pretty well.

next on the list is some real off the line increase regear.

thanks for looking.

Thank you for this update!

I just purchased the same system for my 98 and got it installed tonight.

Sounds great (just like the video) and was exactly what I was looking for!

I just installed this cat back on my 03 tonight. Took me about 1.5 hours to install after i had to find new bolts for the cat flange. But i noticed in the pics above that it has the Dynomax name etched on the tip, my pipe doesn't have that. actually the tip was the worst looking piece, roughly ground edges and weld splatter, still better than stock, my stock muffler had rotted out through the rear and side. It had 2 holes in it about 1" around. And the rest of the pipes were not far behind. This pipe fits really well and it's not much louder over stock. I have to say this is the best bang for the buck. Now i will see if my mpg will get any better, since the truck seems to run a bit smoother.

that sucks, where did you buy it? I guess if you get sick of it you could go to an exhaust shop cut and weld a new tip on it.

dru, the exhaust has been on for 4 days now and the tip already has surface rust! Good thing i own a welder! The tip is being scrapped! But first i need to find a similar one that is better quality, other than that, it is great so far. i commute about 80 miles day, my gas mileage only improved about .10. But the truck definatly has more grunt.
