Can anyone tell me for certain if a February 1985/1986 Mustang SVO camshaft can be used in a 1985 Thunderbird Turbocoup with no problems. I installed a 85/86 SVO camshaft in a 1985 Turbocoup and it has a vacuum reading about 2.5 inches lower than normal at hot idle. The cam, hydraulic lifters, cam followers, cam seal, timing belt & valve cover gasket were replaced. The engine was jacked up so the cam would clear the radiator. The cam appears to be straight up.

It will interchange without a problem. The cams are not that different that that large of a vacuum drop should have occured.

I'd guess my only suggestion at this point would be to triple check the cam timing.

2.3L Turbo cams, THANKS

Thanks for the response, Your answer is what I expected. I degreed the cam and it seems straight up. I thought about using an adjustable cam gear. Right now I'm stumped, I don't know what to do.

I agree, the cam should be the same,I would check timing. As long as you have it apart, you might just as well put in a roller cam from a ranger and free up some hp.
