i have a 94 ranger with a electric transfer case and i want to convert it to a manual case. I see that mine has the BW1354 electric transfer case. Can i just get a BW1354 manual case out of a junk yard and swap them? i know i will need the shifter and stuff like that. I have read that the front drive-shaft needs to be shortened by 1" with the 1350 case will i need to do this with the 1354 manual case? Does the 1354 manual case have a hole for the speedo like the electric case? thanks for your help

You will need the shifter assembly for the transfer case. It is a direct swap for a BW1354 electric to a BW1354 manual. The BW1354 manuals have the speedo cable hole.

If you use a BW1354 transfer case, then you wont have to shorten the front drive shaft. The only difference in the BW1354 electric and manual is how it is shifted.

You may need to either get the correct floor plate or just cut yours, so the shifter will have a spot in come up into the cab! :icon_thumby:

Also get the shifter boot.

It is a pretty easy swap. 4 12point 12mm Driveshaft bolts, 5 1/2" Tcase bolts, drop the old one out and he man the new one in. Make sure you get the two bolts that hold the shifter assembly on to the tranny.

I've seen most in 90' and up Rangers and Explorers, Explorers will more commonly have the Electric case. But there are some manuals out there, look in Explorer Sports specifically.

you will have to re-wire the 4x4 lights.

there's a switch on the 1354M that you will have to run the proper wires to.

all you will need to do is unplug the 4x4 module
