so i am looking into gettin a pair of the JD EB44 arms. They are really expensive so i wanted to make sure they will work with my application. I have a EB 44 on a 93 ranger. The only reason i am sceptical is because i was on another forum and a guy with a early explorer had to build a special x-member because his frame was too wide. I dont understand how this can happen because the stock arms fit on my truck now just fine.
Then it got me thinking. Do you think it would be worth it to try to extend the stock arms? And can it be done safely? I was thinking just cut the arms at the same spot, then fully weld the length of the sides with 1/2'' steel on both sides with a gap in both. I am leaning toward this because then i could wrist the pass. side. It doesn't look like the duff arms have wristing capability. I would like to have the radius arms have thier own independant mount, and fab a better trans. x-member. This would def be a much cheaper route but I wouldnt be able to do much of it myself.

call and talk to the guys a james duff they now the parts and app well I have a EB arms on my truck but i moved the axle forward so what you are talking about will not apply.
I think they are working on a kit for a ranger to use a EB 44 but it is not out yet. i may have the JD c bushing to arm pieces if you do go with the JD parts. Last edited by badblue; 10-09-2008 at 05:36 PM. |

Exploder frames are a little wider in the back. The front is the same width so it means it needs to taper outwards more. That would explain why he had to build a custom crossmember.

keep in mind where extended arms are going to sit. 12 inches back puts those things WAY back there... At least on my single cab it would, maybe its different on the extended cab.

I have the James Duff EB long arms, on my 90 Bronco II, with Dana 44 front, EB width, they were well worth the money. They should work on your ranger fine, the stock crossmember will not work that is correct, i think james duff offers one, mine was allready custom so worked on mine, I do not recommend extended stock arms, they will not be near as strong. I have some pics I posted of my Long arms , flexing them out. Check it out.
I love hitting the trail with them makes it crawl over stuff and ride great. http://www.therangerstation.com/foru...ad.php?t=26275 |
