Default '88 Ranger Tach

My '88 Ranger has a non tachometer gauge cluster that I was thinking about swapping out for a gauge cluster with a factory tach.

My question is... will the factory tach work or is the truck not wired for it?

Thanks

He meant plug and PRAY. It should work tho... they don't make different wiring harnesses for every option- they use the same one. Cheaper that way, so it should plug and pray. Damn- I'm a poet and don't even know it.

-not likely......non-tach cluster equipped rangers have different conncectors on the tach side of the cluster from the tach equipped ones. even if you shave off the leg to let the connector plug in, it still will not work the tach....

You are correct.
A first generation non factory tach Ranger does not have the wiring for a factory tach.
I had to replace the gauge cluster regulator and I thought why not install this tach equipped gauge cluster I have lying around.
