so yeah im back and I am looking at a BII, I asked him what year it is and he said he didnt know, but it got a grill like mine so i know its a gen. 1, also I asked him if it was carb'd or EFI, that way if he says its carb'd, thank i know it will be 84-85, but if its EFI, it will be an 86-88 ((Thanks DISHTOWEL for teaching me alot of stuff:icon_thumby:)), so that way i can get a more acurate year, however, he hasnt been online yet, and he said its a standard and 4x4, and im waiting for an answer on if its a manual t-case, but really what should I look for? im gonna check the brakes, and even if theyre gone, me and Muddin knows how to replace them,
anyways any advice would be appreciated, thanks alot

look at the

body mounts
radiator support
floor pans under front seats
adn the back corners of the tub (open the hatch and look at the corners)

bet on the core support being gone, under the lip of the wheel wells, firewall by the heater box, the back hatch area along the bottom (under the plastic panel infront of the bumper too), spring shackles...I'm sure there is more I'm fogetting.

Matt

Good info ,it's useful ! Thank you !

oh yeah and shes going for a good price, they werent selling it but he said he'll probably let me get it, no more than $300

Only the veryvery last B2s on the assembly line got D35's before B2's were retired in favor of Exploders. Therfor, it will have a D28. See if you can get your hands on a D35 for when you break the D28, lol.

lol, so the D35's are only in the 2nd gens?

D35's were used in the last few B2's in the 1990 year... Not many though.

Every '90 BII Ive had(about 5 or 6) has had the Dana #5, I don't think they are as rare as people think with 1990.
(or I am extremely lucky:D)

Things to look for, Bad rust in all the previously mentioned areas, along with ticking(2.9) or smoking(2.8).

Also check the front axle shafts for play in the U-Joints, on the '85 I had with the Dana 28, they were shot, along with My brothers '88 with the Dana 28, both trucks only had a little over 100,000 on them.

The valve seals like to go out on the 2.8's making it a fairly simple fix if they smoke. They have mechanical lifters so if it has a lot of lifter noise they just need readjusted.

If it's fuel injected, 2.9L V6s like to crack heads. Pull the dipstick and oil cap. Mild crack = snot. Major crack = baby barf. A little snot might be due to condensation, and a good solid warm-up should clear it up.

I'm not sure a rustbucket Bronco II with a blown 2.9L, POS transmission, failure-prone driveshaft, and toothpick differentials is really worth CAN$300. If the body were good, it might be. A few Bronco IIs had decent transmissions (they are the only ones that have no pan on the bottom), but they are fairly rare.

haha ok thanks for all the help guys, Ill check all of these things

so I never looked at the Bii yet cause the owner is in Alberta, which is a long ways away, but I did get a chance to go down along by his house. shes pretty well grew in but there appears to be no rust on the body and the paint seems fairly good, its a flat black, just the color i wanted, but, the chassis and shit could be rusty as a grapel, no sure,
thanks for all your comments too guys
