There always seems to be a lot of "what's the best plug to use" threads. Overall, the top plug seems to be the OEM Motorcraft (which I believe).
I found something that might explain why the Motorcraft plugs run
better.
Check this out, one thing to notice. I picked a 2006 Ranger for this, but if you look at the recommended plug from Bosch, NGK, or Denso, they recommend the SAME plug for the 2.3L, 3.0L, and 4.0L. Only Motorcraft recommends a
different P/N for the 2.3L, 3.0L, and 4.0L:
SP439 for 2.3L, SP432 for 3.0L, and SP412 for 4.0L
So, the heat range is optimized for each engine with Motorcraft, NOT the
aftermarket plugs!
I'm of the opinion "close enough" only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, NOT spark plugs!!
