I pulled the ODB II up on my labtop with the Diagnose software and I have No Codes and No Codes stored..Forgot to add I also replaced Fuel filter and tested pressure at the rails.. 55psi key on running and then key off. Opened the valve on my gauge and gas was streaming out without any problems or air bubbles

I'm wondering if I'm having the same problem? I have a 2000 XLT with approximately 175,000mi and over the last few weeks I've really noticed a loss of power when driving down the Interstate. It has a very difficult time holding Interstate speeds (70MPH) when going up even moderate inclines and, as I attempt to apply more accelerator it "shudders". It also shudders when attempting to accelerate onto the Interstate, especially if I'm going up an incline. It has recently become more difficult to start, especially when it's a hot day and the engine is warm but has been turned off for 30-60 minutes. Does that sound like your symptoms? If not, I'll start a new thread.

TTSig this sounds Very close to what is going on in my truck right now.. Update: I just did my Compression test and I got bad news.. Drivers side 4 had ZERO Compression 5 had ZERO compression and 6 only had 50psi of Compression..Number 1 had 125psi..so i stopped there
So it sounds to me like a internal motor problem?!?!.. What do you guys think? Blown Headgasket? Or something else? The thing is the truck doesn't Run hot or Overheat ever..Could be blown in-between the cyclinders and not in the water or oil jackets.. I will listen to any ideas I am not closed minded ![]() ![]()

D4 I betcha you PLAIN didn't do the compression correctly! Take all the plugs out, open the throttle completely and do it again taking at least 3 compression strokes on each cylinder.

Well I have still been fighting this problem for some time now and its getting on my nerves..The compression test checked out to be okay after all so I didn't tear the motor apart but I still have loss of power and poor really poor gas mileage and a shutter. Anyone have any new ideas I could try to fix this problem? I have changed just about everything.Only thing I can think of is since the cat is now gutted could this be throwing the EGR system out of wack or could this be a Computer problem.. Keep in mind I still haven't thrown any codes or have any in history.I am up and willing to try anything to stop this.
Thanks Dave |

Just did a check With the software in Mode 6 and it gave me a Evap Leak Check Vacuun bleep up and Thereshold and gave me a reading of -63 with a max value of -15 also gave me a Initial Tank Vacuum of -63 with a max value of -9..This tells me that it a sensor should be bad.I check all the vacuum with the truck running with my gauge and all lines held a vac of atleast -12.So what sensor could be bad and could it cause this problem...Ithought EVAP problems didn't cause the truck to run bad just MIL lights

Not sure if it's the problem, but there's a O2 sensor AFTER the cat to measure it's efficiency. Gutting it should throw a code sooner or later. Not sure what else it can throw off.
Modern cats neither restrict flow below what a stock engine needs or usually clog BTW.
