Hello folks,
I appreciate all the help so far with deciding what to do about the transmission on my 2000 ranger xlt 6cyl. 4.0 litre 4x4. I have been driving it around carefully and making notes in my head on what it is doing that may be helpful as right now over 3k is not with-in my price range in terms of fixing this truck.
I notice that when it the engine cold, there are no problems. Once it has been driven for about 15-20 minutes or miles, to the outskirts of town most of the time, the over-drive light starts blinking and suddenly it bucks when shifting from from a stop, or pause at lights, stop signs of say I have to hit the brakes hard. If I stop the truck and let the engine cool off, the light stops blinking, and the slippage stops. It only slips when the light blinks. With it being very hot outside of late, the time interval between turning the key over in the morning, and the time the light starts blinking is decreased. It blinks sooner if the weather is warm then if it is not warm. So it seems to me heat related in some way, either engine/transmission heat or outside temperature heat or both. What does this mean please?

Many thanks

All the best

Andrew
