Hey Guys, my friend has a 1987 BII and would like to know how to engage the 4wd. The manual doesn't stay how to do it.

Any help would be appreciated.

is it a manual tcase? if so pull up on the leaver towards you an thats 4x4 HIGH once you reach that spot push it out towards your lefta little an pull up a lil bit more an thats 4x4 LOW hope this helps if its auto an anythingling like my 95 i just push my clutch in an hold the brake an turn my elec knob to 4x4 high an it goes then to 4low..

yes its a manual t case, with manual hubs.

After engaging the manual t case then i take it he goes out locks in the hubs and then is it completely in 4wd? or does he need to go in reverse or something to fully lock everything?

just put the t-case in 4 high or 4 low and lock the hubs, you are probably thinking more about auto hubs (back up to unlock them) but on that truck they should be manual

shouldn't you back up even with manual hubs to unlock them? thats how i unlock mine everytime. I got the warn jeep hubs.

No, you don't need to. Put a floor jack under the truck and try it if you don't believe me.

If the auto hubs are working properly, you shouldn't have to back up. Damn things are junk anyways.

My 87 BII had a manual case and hubs. Never did anything special to engage both, just shifted the case and twisted the hub selectors.
