I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I can't seem to find my answer. I have a 1998 Ranger, STD cab, 2WD, manual trans, 3.45 7.5" axle. According to the owner's manual this configuration is "Not recommended for towing". Anyone have any insight on this? Can I tow something small? I guess I'm just having a hard time believing that I own a truck that can't tow ANYTHING.

Thanks!

This is pretty close to your truck. I guess it's the 3.45 axle that does you in. That seems like kind of an odd axle to me for that combination. That wouldn't stop me from towing with it though. Just get the clutch up as quickly as you can.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I won't go too big with the trailer (nothing over 1000 lbs). Thanks!!

I was thinking nothing over 3,000#.

Tow with it. Have a blast. Just don't tow anything big. ATV's not boats.
