I am looking for a 1996 ford ranger instrument panel wiring schematic
 
Try Mitchell one they have colour wiring schematics available online

I tried Mitchell yesterday but it kept redirecting back to my
browser not sure why figured website issue
 
Have you tried looking in the service manual?

You can also register for a free account at AutoZone and get access to their service and repair database, which is pretty good.
