I failed the recent emissions so yesterday I was doing a tuneup and decided to replace the oxygen sensors on my '92 Ranger 3.0. After I put them in, I let it idle for about 15 minutes, went for a drive for a few miles and when I stopped it wouldn't start again. I had to put the old ones on just to get home.

After I got home, I put the new ones back on, reset the computer again and the truck started. So I ran it for about 20 minutes idle which sounded fine. After I turned it off, it wouldn't start again.

Also, when I turn the engine over for a few seconds, I can smell gas.

Anyone have any idea what's going on here?

interesting.

if it runs fine with the old sensors, i'd say at least one of the new sensors is defective. take them back and get new ones.
