so i picked up an 86' b2 off a buddy of mine. the 2.9l that was in it was blown but i swapped it out with an 88' 2.9l along with a 5 speed manual tranny. Everything seems to be ok but im missing a few plug ins that go from the wire harness to the firewall. the motor turns over but i cant get it to finally fire up, just curious if there is any difference in wiring harnesses from an 86' automatic to an 88' manual

Heh...well, if I'd seen this thread first, I prolly would have replied differently to your "wont turn over" thread..I know there are some differences in the wiring harnesses and the emission controls but I'll have to let the experts describe them. Oh yeah...Welcome to the Board!! We'll get you figgered out eventually...

Good direction, that's my thread there. It shouldn't crank over without jumping the starter solenoid unless you've connected the two wires for the AT neutral safety switch. Armyhorse86 you didn't state whether you've done this.

For the EEC-IV unit to work properly it needs to be started with the ignition switch so hooking up the correct two wires is important.
