I just purchased my first Ford, a 1995 Ranger and so far its a great vehicle. With TRS help, I have already changed the burned out dash light bulbs with great success - no issues whatsoever Thanks TRS . Now its on to the shocks. I'm expecting to do about 75% highway/25% off road (steep mountain climbing), any readers have recommendations? I will be changing them myself, any suggestions?

Welcome to TRS~!

I just changed my rear shocks...and I was shocked by the fact that they were not absorbing anything other than dirt...but I think they were the originals so it was about time.

I had to use a cutoff tool to get the nuts off the lower mounts because they were so rusty they stripped...but you may be able to do yours by simply soaking them in some liquid wrench or similar penetrating oil before trying to remove them.

As for what shocks to put on...someone with similar driving needs can probably better recommend something...I just put on the cheapest all purpose shocks I could find...considering the prices ranged between $35 each (the ones I got) upwards to $200 each...just a matter of how much you want to spend...

Welcome abyra..........I drive a street truck all the time, so I buy the smoothest shocks.....

Looks like you have to decide if you want to compromise between a "smooth" shock and one that will handle that 25%.....
