Beat on the gearbox with a hammer. That often gets it going. Mine always seemed to have bad solenoids for about 3 years since new. One day I decided to replace the solenoids and found out the solenoids were fine.

I've wrecked two of those and finally decided it was time for a good winch. I was getting tired of driving home with 50' of cable wound around the winch. Plus they are slow as hell and that is partly what burns them up. My Superwinch only runs a few seconds at a time--you have to jog to keep up when spooling the cable back in--and it was $600 shipped. A Pilemarker/Chinese clone grinds away for tens of minutes and was $300 shipped x2.

I've praised those in the past but I guess I was younger and more patient then.
