The 3.8l SC engine uses the same bolt pattern as the 5.0/5.8l windsor.

No, it wont bolt up to any Ranger trans.

I have a 3.8 SC in my 1990 I went with an aod to a 205 if you want to go the auto route I used the SC aod and put a 4x4 output shaft in it from a late 80s f150 and used the same f150 adapter housing bolts right up to a 205. Front drive shaft is pretty close to trans pan had to modify my shifter linkage but works good and was fairly cheap.

i would just go buy the trans and tc combo from a junkyard 4x4 f-150 with a smallblock in it... 250's will have the 351

Good idea but a 97+ 4.2l trans shifter will fit better then a pre-97.
