hi i have a 1988 ford ranger with electric windows and the passenger one dosnt roll down or it does about a inch then stops and wont go up, it sounds like a stripped gear no prob but i was looking for one and this is all i could find , will it work
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FORD...emQQcategoryZ33706QQihZ007QQitemZ170143240004

also i was looking around and it might be the bushings in the motor but they also say 85-86 is there a diffrence because it seams the same to me. thanks

yeah that one should work.

but you have to pull the window motor to change it out so it might be more cost effective to switch out the whole motor.

jim

so what do you think should work the window gear or the bushings ?

well the gear should work for your application.
without seeing it i cant tell you what it needs.

if the bushings are bad the motor will have issues and will make noise like a stripped gear
comm/stator against the motor can/magnets

if its the gear, same noise.

best to take it out for verification.

ok ill try to 2night some time

well tonight i took it appart and everything looks fine but the motor wables when you push up or down but its in there tight so i might just try find a whole new motor

It is the same motor that ford used since the late 60's. They didn't change them 'till sometime in the 90's. The window regulator is strictly Ranger of course. There are left and right motors that do not intechange and sometimes they used them in the opposite sides.
With the regulator intalled there are three little divots in the bottom of the door that coincide with the screws in the motor. If you drill them out to 1/2" you can replace the motor without removing the regulator. There may be a hole or slot instead of one of the divots.

ok thanks alot i couldnt figure out how i would get it out
