Default 8.8 question

Alright I've got a 91', 4.0, 5spd, 2wd with the 8.8 28 spline out back. My buddy has some 4.10's out of a 2000 explorer 8.8 31 spline do you think it will work in my axle? If so do i need just the gears or do i need the carrier as well?

I wouldn't bother with a factory limited slip, as already stated, if you are looking for performance, go with a lunch box locker

You should really start your own thread or search a little instead of thread-jacking. You will get a much better response...

Yeah, the Exploder axles are a different width than the Ranger axles. You could put the whole exploder axle assembly in but, it will require a bit of fab work.
All 8.8 rear gears (Ring and pinion) interchange.

8.8 gears are 8.8 gears irregardless of spline count

He has a 8.8 28 spline axle now. He just needs the 4:10 gears not the carrier. I have a set of 4:10 gears from a 31 spline Explorer axle. I'm 99% sure it will work in his 28 spline Ranger, correct?
