Default HELP PLEASE 1987 5 spd.

Hey guys I need help, I've got a 1987 Ford Ranger 2wd 2.3L 5 speed, I believe it is a Toyo kogyo 5 speed.

Issue is it's so sloppy that in gear, it feels like neutral.
BUT this is why Im really changing it, I went to shift for fifth and it felt like the transmission and shifter werent connecting because it was so sloppy, it locked up to the right side and I had to pull over to get my gears back and I havent tried 5th gear since, I called ford they dont carry any bushing kits anymore.

So if anyone can help me find a solution to my problem, know of anything that still sells the bushing kits for these transmissions, it'd be a life saver.

I had to drive a truck like this when I was in shop class in high school....No one else in my class could ever find the gears on it so I had to do to pulling in/out and test driving :P

Back on topic. Try ebay, LMC truck, and Rockauto.

I had the same problem when I bought my truck. I could seriously take the shifter and spin it around in its place. Luckily, I had a good friend that had a spare.

Anyway, I used to have a '91 Toilet and I replaced the shifter seat. It has the same ball design on the shifter though. And possibly the same seat. Maybe further look into and see if this will work for you?

So im thinking of swapping in a m50d-r1 from a 96 ranger, will this work? Also is the m50d-r1 longer? easier to shorted the driveshaft
