Default 2.3 throttle body ???

hey guys i have an 86 2.3 4x4 and im starting to try to get a little more oomph out of it. i plan on an air intake pretty soon but on the 86 the IAC is located on the air box. Can i swap the trottle body off a newer model with the IAC on the TB and not on the air box?

I haven't seen one with the IAC on the air box, but I imagine it shouldn't be a problem assuming it's the same actuator

88 is going to have it on the box too ....... you can port your box to get more air in it and put in a K&N would give you good air flow with minimal mods, i used a dremel to cut another air inlet below the filter so it still sucks filtered air, just an extra hole to get more air from

thats a pretty good idea. did the throttle cable mod. made a huge drivability improvement. now looking for a little power up grade. nothing huge but my 2.5 is worlds ahead of my 86' 2.3. just needs a little help.

Default Yes!

I swapped a 2.3 from a 87 mustang into my son's 87 all I had to do was extend the wire from where I cut the the plug off ran it in with the power wires then spliced plug back on and am running a RE WORKS airfilter right off the throttle body with 94 shorty header and plugged EGR.RUNS GREAT and really cleaned up the engine compartment.
