1994 2.3 stick with a bad ECU the #s on it are F47F-ADC that do not seem to exist at Advance or Pepboys or Autozone. A F47F-ADB exists in all their files but not my ADC number.
I see where you can buy used F47F-ADC on Ebay used or some other remanufactures but why does the number not exist in any of the local chains computers.
Have any of you guys ran into this before?

just run a dif junkyard unit

theres too many cals to go into one over another in this application

But why is this ECU so uncommon? This is nothing special I see the same rangers on the road everyday. So what gives?

some times people at parts stores can just be plain stupid( no offense to anyone working in one). just because a part is not made for my truck doesn't mean it won't fit!

i agree with bobby on this one. try a salvage yard unit. they are also a heck of a lot cheaper then new ones.

those other '94 units should work if on the "same" truck. as in year, engine, tranny, drive train, paint color(ha ha to some parts stores)

I've heard rumors of Ford putting a different tune in the computer in a small percent of the trucks for research purposes.
I've also read lots of threads talking about how someone has a truck that for some reason just seems faster then the rest of them.
In one of those threads a guy that had one that seemed fast got recall paperwork when it was like 5 years old saying the CPU needed to be replaced and from then on the truck just didn't feel the same.
Could this be one of those? Did the truck seem fast for what It was.

No the truck is far from fast.I went to a big autostore here that can get parts for anything and they can't get it either. Called Ford they don.t have it either.

It's a 4 cylinder so even if its better then the rest of them its never doing to be fast. I would be interested to see if putting another computer in it makes it seem even slower then it was before.

like i said, there are various calibrations for all types of reasons.

your xyz is equal to the abc the calls to replace it. though you seem to indicate they dont even have an abc.

If that is the case. What about using a mustang ecu or something?

I have the same ECU as you i think. Does yours have a catch code of BAB2? I think you should be able to use the BAB1 in your truck. I have always wandered how interchangeable ecu's are.

well I found a place that had a computer and i put it in today. Guess what? Truck runs the same .I started it after i installed the computer and it ran great for 2 minutes and than it started missing just like it did with the original computer.

Plugs # 3 are dead on both coils and plug # 2 is dead on one coil.No spark notta out of the coil for those cylinders.

This has been an intermittent problem for 3 weeks and than it got to the point where it was missing full time and intermittently running well on all cylinders.

Any ideas ?

One mechanic said it had a cracked head and said a cracked head is very common on these 2.3s. But there is no water in the oil and it makes no sense that the coils are dead.

And yes i installed new coils and it did not make a difference.

Open to all suggestions.

The code reader says there is a problem with the coils and gives another code for the ecu being in a default mode .I think the code for the coils is because they are not firing the cylinders and that is because the ecu is not firing them.

The harness and plugs look clean . Truck is a clean
Florida truck. I have tried wiggling the harness everywhere looking for a bad wire with no luck. When the truck is running bad like this you can unplug any of the sensors and it does not run any worse. . The computer does not even reconize the sensors when it is in this stage.
