hey everyone thanks for looking at my build. this project is called project "coal miner" this truck is going to be a diesel power ranger and it gonna roll coal. Hence "coal miner" :)

i have a 2000 ext cab step side with a 3.0. The only thing I am reusing off that frame is the body. The new frame is a 98 2wd with a explorer axle swap and does not have abs. The motor is a 3.0 i5 from a Mercedes 300d. Has some turbo and fuel work done so it runs like a top.

Hoping to make a fun daily driver out of it.

So do you plan on just making it 2wd? Or what are you going to do for a transfer case? Divorced NP 205?
Seems like a cool project, cant wait to see the pics.

Cant help with the pic sizing, but im defiantly going to keep an eye on the build.

here are just some pics i got to load. problems founds so far..... : cracked frame, bad rocker panels, bad emergency cable, hole in leaf shackle, and lot and lots of rust issues

is that a FFV 3.0 in there? I'm getting about 12 city with my 3.0 FFV on ethanol with 4:10's and an auto...

ya sadly i get 14 high way (13.5 if i beet it ) and 10 city. hence the diesel conversion. i squeezed 17 out of it one day but that was down hill highway. i think it runs at 2900 rpm on the high way. and i have never ran flew fuel in it just gas.

I was curious if it was FFV since I'm trying to keep an eye out for another set of heads to P&P for the day I ever decide to tear into mine since, well, head gaskets and shit do happen....

I can see your pretty new to the site check lmctruck.com to get some replacement body panels for your rust issues. I'm going to keep an eye on this build looking forward to it.:icon_thumby:

thanks! and ya ive been looking everywhere for a set of rocker panels. apperently for 98 and up rocker panels are a dealer only :annoyed:. and yes alittle new and this site has never let me down :icon_thumby: . and its going to be a long build. i have to drive it again this winter so it give me a chance to tear the diesel down and rebuild it :stirthepot:.

thanks thats a great photo idea.. and ya i will not be able to get the diesel in this summer but next summer after i get it rebuilt and everything i well.. its a long build

UPDATE: pressure washed the frame and the under side.. things are looking pretty good other then what i already know. next step time to use the air chisel.

Thanks to a fellow ranger station member i have a ford explorer rear axle with disc brakes with 3.73 limited slip thanks alot man

ok everybody. im wondering what is your favorite part about owning a ranger? and if u ever did a build what was ur favorite part?

The rubber neckers. My truck wasn't much to look at but I was always getting asked if it was for sale and what size tires is on it, grille guard, ect. I loved to see people take double takes and droll. A moded ranger is rare in these parts, everyone wants jeeps and 1/2 tons or bigger. You get a lot of attention when you drive a ranger that looks like it got a pair. You earn some nice respect from the guys in the fullsize trucks too.
