The dimension I guess would be from the front of frame rails to the back of cab for the pre 98 std cabs versus the extended cabs. The difference is what im after between the 2 measurements. Im thinking of getting a extended cab roof line & extended cab rear section from a truck off of C/L. I would be cutting the A-pillars about 4" below top of windshield & the floor about 12" forward of the back of the door opening. When I get the cab section I would also cut a section of frame from each frame rail, but unsure of how much the extended cab is over the std cab. I'm thinking that a 3' section from each rail should be enough & then I would buy new C channel to reinforce the frame in the area being spliced.

Here are the wheel bases. The difference would be the length your looking for.

1983 - 1997 Single Cab/Short Bed: 107.9"

1986 - 1997 Extended Cab/Short Bed: 125.4"

wow less then I was thinking that's only 17.5".I thought it would of been closer to the 2' mark

Sounds like quite a project...if you do it, try to capture images of the steps...it would be an interesting read...

When I bought an extended cab to put on my regular cab frame I farted around with measurements for quite a while before deciding to just put the extended cab back on the extended frame...have been looking for other people's projects since but haven't seen anything that a regular joe without a welder and a decent shop could pull off...
