I was going to wait to start my build thread but things were hurried along by my rearend blowing apart tonight so i guess here we go.....

The truck is a 86 Ranger Reg. Cab Long bed, 2.9 5 Speed and a manual BW1350. It had a factory Dana 28 and 7.5 LS with 4.10s.

The plans for the truck are to make it a nice truck to drive back and forth to work, but be a capable wheeler and hunting truck.

Mods:
4" lift springs
Skyjacker 4/6'' lift brackets
Skyjacker Extended Radius Arms
3'' Body lift
Warn hubs
15X10 Wheels
33X12.5 A/T Tires
Pioneer Headunit
Super runner steering
Dana 35 Swap
8.8 Swap
4.10 gears
63" Chevys
Belltech 6400s
Lockrite
Skyjacker Shocks on the rear

So i started by removing so nasty carpet, sub wires, extra gauges that didnt work, rewiring the Radio, removing the CB that didnt work and basically gutting the interior and cleaning it out and rewiring everything correctly.

^PO's Wiring Job^

^Extra Wires!!!^

^More of his wiring^

Got it all back together and everything works beautifully

CARNAGE!!!!!!!!:headbang:

My poor 7.5 LS

So i guess ill be looking for a 8.8 out of a 93+ Ranger or 91-94 Explorer tomorrow with 4.10s

I think im going to stay with a factory limited slip if i can find one since this truck will spend the majority of its time on the road but if i can't find one its not a big deal, ill just "have" to buy a locker :)

Width is 1.5" wider than 93+ Ranger, 3" wider than pre-93, 31 spline
Spring perches must be fabricated and welded on top
Stock spring perches can be used to lower the truck (like a flip kit)
Shock mounts must be fabricated and welded on
Very common to find ltd. Slip, usually 3.73 or 4.10 (4x4) gears
I found an 8.8 with 4.10s out of a 94 Ex for 150 and chevy 63"s for $90/pair, but im not sure i want the axle 3" inches wider, that seems like alot. Gonna do some measuring tomorrow night and see what i come up with.

Most ranger 8.8's only having 28 spline axles. Look forward to watching the build!

I bought a non LS 8.8 out of a 2003 Ranger with 4.10s today. Cost me $250 but i was sick of looking and this one was already pulled. Started pulling the 7.5 out tonight. Ran into town and dropped of some brake cores and bought a set of knock off belltechs. atleast now i can start making progress and get this thing back on the road. Its nice to atleast see it in the garage with the bed off!
