I have an 1989 Ford Ranger w/ 2.9 L engine. It started fine this morning and ran fine. Just got in it wouldn't start. New battery last weekend, it turns over just fine both won't start! ANy help is greatly appreciated.

check fuel pressure? can you hear the fuel pump come on when you turn the key on? or see if the "valve steam" on the fuel rail has gas on it.

if its not fuel, it's probably not firing right. check all electrical connections. last time mine did that- the fuse on the fuel electrical stuff was blown.

you only need 3 things to start a motor right? electrical power for starter, fire, and gas..

I hear the fuel pump when i turn on key fuses on fron rider side fender well all check ok what now?

is their fuel at the fuel rail??

I dont even know where the fuel rail is?

ok so again thanks for your help where is the fuel rail and what do i do

ok back in a minute

just see if you can find that valve steam looking thing, and let us know what happens when you push it. i hope someone else chimes in with some tech.. lol

could be sensors, or timing, or fuel (hopefully you're about to find that out), or...other things to. its hard to think when i NEED to..lol

ok i found fuel rail and saw valve pushed it and a small amount of fuel squirted up

so you have fuel, usually it shoots up pretty high tho. hmmm....

what kind of tools and stuff are you working with? any?

if i was you, i'd post up a thing in "general forum" linking to this... a lot of people never look at the urgent thing..

how's the distributer look? normal?

distributor cap looks ok fuel squirted up about 3 inches i dont know but it sounds like its not firing what can i do next i have a flat head, and a 1/2 in wrench to work with regular mcgiver huh!

you have plenty of fuel then, i just went and pushed mine to see how far it shot out. lol. it may not be firing. but why??? hmmmmm.... i'm out of ideas..... let me think... let me think... you post in general yet? i know you're at the site wanting to go home lol
