Default Ignition trouble

ok this jus started yesterday and I don't know what to do. I have a 1993 ranger ext. 2wd and the lights, dingers works at full strength all the way till I turn my ignition to the start position to crank it then everything dies. It's a manual tranny so to crank it I have to push the clutch in and it's acting jus like im nt pushing it in to crank it. But I can crank it using a screwdriver on the relay switch. Any I deas will be helpful. I'm thinking it's either the ignition swith or the ignition.

I'm just guessing here......but on all vehicles, everything "dies" when the key is turned enough to the "run" position....it allowas all the battery voltage to go straight to the stater motor. You're probably just noticing it because for one second the engine isn't turning over & starting.

Maybe the electric switch on the clutch pedal isn't working....and no electricity/signal is being sent to the starter relay.

Maybe the battery is not strong enough to cause the starter to engage....

Maybe the ignition switch itself is defective (not the part that the key fits in....but the part further down the column with all the heavy wiring going into it connected by a metal rod to the key-switch)

It may be the switch on the clutch. But no this isn't the normal "dies" to start this just don't work. It won't start no matter how long you hold it.

pull the connector off the clutch switch and hook a jumper wire between the two terminals if it starts you need a new switch if not you will know to move on to another component.

Well I dunno what it couldve been other than it was too cold. Because temperature here last couple of days has been in the twenties and snow because it works fine now with the temperature in the low fifties. Is that possible?

It was likely one of a couple possibilities: a loose connection, that pulled apart a little because cold causes things to contract, or a bit of water that got someplace it shouldn't have, and didn't evaporate until it got warmer. Or any number of other little problems that make us think of "gremlins".
