Angry warming up issues

Well... I've ad my ranger now for 2 weeks and have done all my tune up stuff on it and the only thing left is my temp guage. My gauge always reads zero. I figured its the coolant temp sensor. I FINALLY found it behind the cylinder head. WTF was ford thinking? I have small hand and I cat even get the plug off. Any tips on getting the plug off?

Also, i've noticed that i am not building pressure in either of my coolant hoses even after i've had the car idling for some time. First I wanted to fix the CTS to see my temperature.

SO....

How do I remove the plug for the coolant temp sensor behind the head?

Would a bad sensor give me a code of closed loop fuel control (insufficient heat)?

Finally got the plug off. Tomorrow morning ill be running to the autoparts store to get a new sensor.

Edit: Well, that sensor turned out to be the temp sending unit. I cant locate the actual engine temp sensor.
