So I have a 1994 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0L V6. It has 136,000 miles. I get it start when I go to work every day after letting it sit all night. But when I try to leave work it usually wont start. Only after some fiddling with EVERYTHING I get it to start and thats every once in a while. It always cranks but wont start up.

The battery, starter, and alternator are all fine.

I replaced the ignition lock cylinder and it started great with no problems... for two days.

The IAC and TPS are fine, I cleaned them as well. MAP seems to be fine.

I will note that a strong smell of gas seems to be apparent when I do get it started and running. So maybe its running rich.

I checked the fuel relays and they're fine. I haven't checked the pumps because I have no way to measure their functionality.

I'm really thinking it's fuel related, but am just not sure.

I would greatly appreciate the help.

You need to pull a spark plug after you have cranked it over a few times while it doesn't want to start.

Its a place to start. need to see if its covered in oil/gas/carbon or just worn out. that sorta thing.

Fuel Pressure Regulator. Pull the vacuum line off of it and I am sure you'll see some gasoline in the line.
