To all those who know anything about it, i get done with school(getting my B.S. of Exercise Sciene and minor in automotive) in about a year, and i'm figuring i'm gonna be moving up there and possibly go to a diesel program up there in Lethbridge too. Cuz my gf and i are planning on gettin married and she's canadian from up by lethrbridge... i guess i'm just wondering how big of a hole would i be putting myself in on finding a job up there? especially as an american citizen and not yet a canadian Citizen? cuz i know there are a lot more canadians on this forum than most.

I'm in Red Deer, and I know a couple of people in Lethbridge I could introduce you to. They may not do what your interested in but they might know someone who is. PM if interested. After that it's up to you. Networking like your doing is the best way of meeting people. Good Luck.

It is easier to get work up here as a US citizen than it is for us to go South and try to find work. We aren't as anal about the whole thing. LOL

I don't think it'd be too hard. Canada rocks! haha

work in alberta is easier to find then work in the usa. tho if you were moving another province it might be harder. but from what the news is saying we are out of the recession.

Canada is a beautiful place. Nice folks too. You are going to love the mountains. The Canadian Rockies!! You'll like it. Well, except for the whole bobble head thing...

all you need to know about moving to canada http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/index.asp

well i'm more interested in if there are jobs for a US citizen up there... particularly one that wants to be a diesel mechanic or a cop.

well there ain't really any mountains, or hills up there hahaha, at her house you could your dog run away for three days!:icon_rofl: i ain't ever seen plains like that before! it was way weird to see!:shok:

Go West my son. There are some awesome mountains just to the West. It is definitely flat where you are going to be though. I've driven though there several times.

Easily one of the most beautiful places on the planet and you will be within a few hundred miles of it!

hmm, moving to Canadia huh?

I hear its cold there. Pack some long underwear.

crbnunit, is that Kluane? Been a long time since I have south. I like Canada, come on up!

No,not Kluane though that is a lot closer to me! I was in Kennecott just a few years ago. Just across the border from Kluane. Mt. Logan on the CA side is just shy of 20,000'. There are some really big mountains in that area. Mt Drum, Mt Wrangell...

Those pics are mostly around the Icefield Parkway through Jasper/Yoho/Banff just West of Calgary. The climbing pics are from the Bugaboo Spires. The only place I've ever been where the parks service issues chicken wire for you to put around your vehicle. Evidently, the local porcupine population has an affinity to brake lines!

This is about 100-150 miles west of where this guy is going to live. I smell some weekend road trips!

Dang, gotta love the mountains! i was actually up there in Glacier National Park about 8 years ago... man was it pretty up there!

but i've been looking up the whole citizenship requirements, and crap man, is all i gotta say. Gotta get a "permanent resident" status before i can get citizenship, but with the "PR" status i can at least work up there... now on the job hunt. but it sure is hella easier than the states stuff for getting citizenship.

I took a trip back in 1986. I flew to Alaska (before I lived up here) and met some friends. We back packed around Denali NP and the Talkeetna Mtns., drove back across Canada, backpacked around Glacker/Waterton, into Montana and backpacked around Glacier NP, into Colorado and backpacked around Rockey Mtn. NP. From there, we drove back to Texas, dropped off my buddie's GF, grabbed the climbing gear and went back to CO, over to NM, UT, AZ and climbed for another month. It was a great summer and we put 14,000 miles on a little Mazda pickup. Burned 5th gear out of the damn thing!

Anyway, we had a mouse get under the hood and he ate the windshield washer tubing off all the way from the tank to the nozzle! Funny what animals find tastey sometimes. I'm pretty sure it is not good for them!!!
