Tomorrow I'm buying a 93 Exploded(needs a lil work), for a daily driver. As not to put miles on expensive big mud tires on my pickup, and as a back-up after weekend escapades.
I'm just curious if the exploder would make a decent tow vehicle for my Ranger. The Ex is a 93, 4door, eddie bauer, 4.0, auto, 4x4, 3L73 My truck is a 94, 4.0, reg cab, long bed, EB D44 + 9", 37" tires Also how well do you think the Ex would be towing with these mods, D30 SAS, 6" lift, SOA rear, 33" tires, 4.10 gears Thanks ahead of time.

When mine was stock with 31's and 3.73 i pulled my old complete running bronco II for 5 hours twice. Wasnt bad, could do 80+. Once lifted 6", no swaybars, 3.73, 33" tires i pulled a buddy cavalier on the same trailer. 55mph tops before it got weavy and scary to drive. That was with the 5 1/2" drop hitch, i needed another 4 inches of drop to get the trailer level, but my receiver is also built into bumper.
Will it pull it, yes. Will it pull it safely, not so much. I took all my trailer wiring off because its to big of a risk for me to do it again.

if you are going to tow with it I would not lift it and put 33's on it. 31's will fit on an explorer with very little trimming. and if you go with 31's I would use 4.10 gears. If you stay with the stock 325/75/15 then 3.73 will be fine.
keep your foot out of it and stay out of over drive. I used to tow my 77 J-10 on a trailer behind my Explorer with 31's and 3.73's over 4th of July pass on I-90......... the 4.10's did better.

Trans coolers and trailer brakes arent going to help with the body sway on a 5000lb rig that is very top heavy with no swaybars. I speak from experience. If your going to do it, get big swaybars. Just from going around corners and hitting bumps at 55mph is enough to get it moving scary. And its not a fun tow, very exhausting.

Trans cooler was a given. It's getting one regardless of what I do with the truck.
In stock form would it be ok to tow with halfway across the country? *With the proper hitch, trailer brakes, and trailer. Any other towing mods to be recommended? rear airbags? air shocks? Dual piston front brake swap? Rear disc swap?

Get an Equilizer hitch. http://www.equalizerhitch.com/
Proper trailer brakes. I would say get brakes on both axles, not just one. And get a good controller! I hate how I always have to adjust for highway and city driving with mine.
