Sorry for the dumb question, but where is the PCV valve located on my 2005 2.3l. I have look in the obvious places and the not so obvious and am at my wits end.

Thanks

Bryan

PCV location

Brian,

This drove me nuts too. You'll find it on the bottom half of the right side of the engine as you stand in front of the truck facing it. It helps to remove the soft rubber splash guard inside the tire well. Getting at it from inside the fenderwell was the easiest for me, and I found taking the tire off was the best way about it. If you follow the hose from the back of the intake going down, you'll find it.

The pcv valve is on the side of the engine with the intake manifold. You have to look real hard behind the intake manifold, the pcv valve sits in crankcase vent oil separator box on the side of the engine block. Here are intructions from Alldata, not to clear but hope it helps.

POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) VALVE

Removal and Installation

Remove the left front inner fenderwell splash shield.

Disconnect the coolant bypass hose from the routing clip.

Gently pry the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve cap off the two tabs.

Remove the PCV valve from the crankcase vent oil separator and disconnect the vacuum hose.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.

PCV stands for Positive Crankcase Ventalation. as the name implies, it forcefully ventilates the crank case using the engines vacuum to pull air through the crankcase, thus preventing the buildup of fumes (even healthy engines have a minimal amount of blowby) inside the crankcase. its good for your oil, its good for your fuel economy, and its good for the environment.

PCV valve cap removal

Gently pry the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve cap off the two tabs.
I've got the splash guard and wheel off and have located the PCV valve, but now I'm stuck. I see 1 horizontal slit about 1/4 inch long on each side of the cap and I can rotate the cap a little, but how do you pry the cap off? With a screwdriver? and what to pry against?

A little help please.
