When my brother changed the pan gasket on his '97 when he regeared he marveled how the bores on his 4.6 still had the crosshatch with 150k miles. It just runs on normal gasoline though.
Then he proceeded to put new rocker panels, cab corners and a newer southern box on it so the truck looked as good on the outside.

a 4.2 would run easy like that on cng as well unless they never changed the oil.
hard to wear and engine out on cng or propane.
a 300 six would probably never die ever with good oil changes on cng.
