Help auto transmission is shifting hard ranger 3.0 4x4

A 92 most definitely has a VSS, it's in the transmission tail housing. It also may have an ABS speed sensor on the differential, but that is only used for ABS functions.
 
still havent had time to work on it but i did install a rear window because it broke with my atv in the back the strap broke and atv hit the window its a easy job lol but im reading on where my vss is located,1 says pumpkin and other post said on transmission? my is a 95 ranger XL 4x4 3.0 auto trans? and ill let you guys know what fix my issue.
 
locovaca is correct... Ranger VSS's are found in the transmission tail shaft area, and where applicable ABS sensors (also called VSS's) are found on top of the rear pumpkin (I believe that 4x4's have an ABS sensor is each front wheel, too). If you can't find the location of your VSS's, your parts store should have a diagram on their computer of where they're located.

When my transmission was acting up I changed the ABS VSS sensor in the pumpkin and my transmission started shifting normally again. Whether the sensor change had anything to do with my trans acting normally again I don't know, but I do know that now it works and I'm happy.
 
May be thats my issue my abs light always comes on while driving ill try the vss/abs sensor in the pumpkin sometimes the transmission will shift fine sometimes hard.
 
so vss in the pumkin fix my shifting issue but now something feels like its slipping at take off a bit
 
Your bands might need adjusting.
 
it feels like my rear diff hard to explain happends after driving for a little bit or 4x4 starts some crazy shake in the rear end just at take off any help today i checking my gear oil in the rear diff
