Hey all!

Just got my hands on a 1988 Ranger XLT 2WD, friend of mine needed it out of his driveway, so he gave it to me! :headbang:

Downside is, it's sat for four years in the Arizona sun :sad:

So begins my foray into fixing up my Ranger.

welcome. i too have an 88. mines extended cab 4x4. post a pic and lets get some ideas out there.

I too have an 88 xlt 4x4 with the 2.9!
good luck, you are in the best place for the ranger!!!!
I´m working on mine, and I´m not a good english writter, because I´m form Mexico, but I build my truck with the tech on this page THNX TO ALL OF YOU GUYS!!!

no pics yet, i'll try to snap a few tonight when i get home. it's the 2.9L with a five speed.

I've definitely got some ideas for what i'd like to do (all of them from TRS, haha!).

so, i want to get an 8.8 (disc brakes, LSD, 4.11's), lift, and some 31's. Basically going to use the Ranger as my part time DD (also have a 2012 Harley Sportster 1200) and using it as a Camping/light trail rig.

i also have an 88... its like the same one my dad had about 15years ago... which is why i bought it...

it just ticked over 100k so its been sitting alot of its life, ive probably spent more time working on it than actually driving it because at the opposite end of things being broken from over use is neglect and underuse

yeah, honhon

mine's only got 125k on the odo. someone installed one of the AMSoil dual remote bypass filters on it, and the AMSoil air filter. Downside is, the brake resevoir is completely dry (i'm sure the seals or lines are bad), and it's been sitting for four years with a 1/4 tank of fuel :sad:
