I'm having some issues with the replacing the fuel pump on my 85'. I got the old one off but the fuel pump push rod won't in far enough to put the new pump back on? I tried cranking the motor over by hand but it didn't seem to help. Any suggestions?

Have you compared the new fuel pump with the old one?
Making sure you have the correct replacement.

When you turn the engine over does the push rod go in and out, so you are for sure on the cam that operates the pump.
If so rotate crank until push rod is in as far as possible, then install the new fuel pump.

Thanks for insight Ron. I got someone to hold pressure on the rod while I cranked the motor over. I was able to get to move in enough to install the new pump. It was too hard to tell that it was moving by myself. 4 hands are better than 2!

Good work :icon_thumby:

Yes 4 hands are better than two
