Need new tires now, don't know which size?!

so my 93 ranger xlt 4.0 needs tires today

The inside of my door says
265/75/15:

when I went to Lee Schawb they said the factory was

P215/75R15:
or
P235/75R15:
eerrrr which one?

I use my truck for Union welding, sometimes off road ( I don't mean mudding, but when the union send us to gods country for pipeline work). Which I need?!

I'd go with the door sticker. Any of them will fit, but I'd bet that the speedo is calibrated to the door sticker.

What's on it now?

10.5 dont sound like stock wheels anyways I would think for effeciency stock wheels and tires would be the ticket unless the differentials were changed with the larger wheels? You will get longer tire life out of some good mud and snow tires. Spend the dime now will save you in the long run in maint and fuel. Try craigs list for a good set of stock wheels and tires.
 
sorry, 30/10.5/15 which according to a converter is the same as 265/75/15
 
Like they already said... If going stock use the numbers on the door sticker... Just don't buy Hankook or Kumho or some other cheapo Korean or Chinese junk tires. Get Toyo, Bridgestone, Michellin oe something like that. You will thank yourself for spending the extra bucks over the long run.
 
My grandfather's 93 Ranger XLT 4.0L 4x4 had 235/75-15's on it should have kept them so I could have put them on my Bronco 2 LOL.

I Have BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO's on my Toyota Tundra and they do great offroad, they're expensive but then again the tundra has 18" wheels. I'd stick with stock tires especially on a daily drivers, you start putting larger wheels/tires on a daily driver and it will serious effect your performance and fuel economy (not that the 4.0L's had any to begin with LOL).

Do not get michellins they are junk, more specifically they have weak sidewalls and are not suited to trucks that are used like trucks. And I have not seen a BFG that was not separated in the 10 years that I have been at my current job. I would suggest
1. Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac
2. Kelly Safari TSR
3. Firestone Destination A/T
4. Fierce Attitude MT
 
265/70/15 was an optional factory tire size. Places like tire rack and Schwaby don't always list the optional ones. If that is what is on it now that is what I would get.

I'll go snap some pics of the ones on my truck and send them to you. Then you will have seen 4.
