Dome light turns on without door ajar

I have noticed lately with my 97 ranger that if my driver door is locked and I pull the handle they interior light will turn on even though the door is not open. I sprayed down the latch with lithium grease and Wd40 both and it still happens. Is the sensor thingy there shot or am I missing something.

Any help is appreciated

it's suspose to do that, my 97 (before it got stolen) did too. it goes out in a minute or so.

The dome light switch is on the latch, not a push in switch in the door jam.

Spray both the drivers and passenger door latches with WD40.
They can stick ON and drain battery.

Yep, what he said. My 97 does it too, always has.

Yes, I agree. My 1997 B4000 does it, and always has.
