We're ready to start work on my sons axle. High pinion d44. From what I'm reading, when shortening, the most popular way is to do one cut from the passenger side. Planning on 5.13 gears with 38's. So, where do y'all get your gears and install kits and what works best for you? Oh yea thanks.

I'll get some pics up soon. Its gonna be a slow go. We did order a steering kit from ruff stuff. 7/8 heims. I have a buddy thats going to rebuild the axle for us for free. We just hafta get the gears and install kit. Then match up the 9" rear. From what I'm reading, we'll have to gey a new carrier too.

I have the same set up. I am running 44 high pinion and soon to be 9" with 5.13s. You will need a new carrier for the 44; however, I don't think you need a new one for the 9". Is your 9" a 31 or 35 spline? Also, with the dana 44 and 9" the lowest gears you can go and still find matching ratios is 5.13 so good pick on the ratio.

I always get my stuff form Randy's ring and pinion.

with gears the setup is way more important than the brand, I do gears for other people around here and I use either Yukon or USA standard, I usually talk people into Yukon master install kits, but whatever comes with quality bearings.
