Has anyone used hex bar for for tie rod and drag link? If so, other than having it drilled and tapped, what are the cons? If you've used it can you please post pics? Thanks. JTB

Seen it done. Seems much easier to just use 1.5x0.250 wall DOM with weld in hex inserts.

Duramax diesels have very weak tie rod ends. Under hard accel in 4x4 the tires are under that much torque that they literally pull them selves together. Creates a really serious toe-in situation.

The aftermarket ends that remedy this problem are made if hexagonal solid stock. Id say about 1.5" in diameter. It's very strong stuff so id say it would be great for a drag link.

The drawbacks being that its probably a lot more expensive than Dom. You'll also have to have the ends drilled so you can adapt the tie rod ends or heims into it.
