I have a 302 engine that is swapped in a 1972 ford currier. There is no wire in the truck whatsoever and were just trying to run the motor. we have the starter and everything working fine as well as the fuel pump on a on/off switch and the starter on a push button. The distributor has 3 wires comming out of it, one black, one orange, and one purple. it has a brand new MSD blaster 2 coil on it.

Right now we have a 12v switched power going to the (+) on the coil. The orange wire on the distibutor going to the (-), and the purple wire going to the (+) on the coil, the black wire we just have hanging out there. we cannot get any spark. It might be wired wrong i just dont know. Its a points style dizzy and i know nothing more of it. i know that the dizzy is good tho

It's been a while and I'm not that great with wiring. That said, here goes;
Look under the cap and trace the wire going to the points/condenser, that wire should go to the negative side of the coil. The positive side of the coil should be supplied with ~ 6-8 volts in the run position, and full battery in the start position. The distributor case IS the ground thru the engine back to battery negative. One of the two other wires would be for tach, the other maybe for an external condenser [if there isn't a condenser inside] otherwise I don't know.

Good luck,
