Check cap light and check engine light

Hey, my check fuel cap light came on this morning and while driving back from work that light stayed on and the check engine one lit up. I am just packing up to head out of town for work. I'm sure there is a answer but I have no time to look and when I get back from working out of town I am heading out again right away. I have no way of checking codes either. Any help would be appreciated. I would look but time is very limited and where I am going there is no internet. Thanks again.

Did you check the fuel cap?

The engine light will come on if the fuel tank pressure system(EVAP) has a problem so they are both related.

You will need to take it to an auto parts store to have them read the engine light codes and then reset it, it's free.

Could be a loose or cracked EVAP vacuum line or even a bad gas cap

I did check the gas cap before I left, it seals good but it could be buggered up. The truck is a 2003 fx4 level 2 4lt. I am heading out again but had a quick look. The pictures is for a older gen of ranger, where would it be on my truck? I should be back in a day or two. Thanks again.
