In my box at work I have set-up bearings and races, and the housing spreader as a shop tool, makes it super easy.
Unfortunately the night I did my D44 I left them at work, did the set-up with out them. What a PITA! When setting the pinion depth I ruined a stack of shims driving the race out, luckily I had enough extra shims and nailed it the 2nd time.
Set-up races are a big plus!
