i tried searching but couldnt find what i was looking for....

anyone have a picture of the first gen dash lights all lit up... mainly looking for the idiot lights....

i was proud that my truck hasnt shown the check engine light... but then i was thinking... what if it was on and the previous owner took out the bulb or maybe the bulb is burned out?

it should turn on with the key on, not running if it doesn't it's burned out/missing
 
I have one around here somewhere. I'll try to get a pic of all the lights in a bit.
 
so my 88 should have one?
 
Put the key in, turn to run, but dont start it. Your warning lights should light up briefly, then go off. If you don't see it illuminate the bulb is out/burned.
 
well today while my dad and i were checking for an exhaust leak, i turned the motor to on (not start) and the light illuminated... then when i turned the truck on it went out.

so thats good... its located in the bottom left of the illumination panel...

but then after a test drive it wouldnt light up anymore.... so i dont what that would be about....
 
Could be a bulb issue. Lots of car light bulbs can burn out but not break the filament off completely so they work sometimes and not others.
 
i was thinking that... i tried to check my dash light prior when i started this thread... but someone had the idea of putting silicone under the mounting points so my dash is glued to metal portion... i need to cut it with a thin saw blade or see if i can get to the dash lights via the front dash speaker cutout
