The New To Me F100

Just thought I'd post a little update on the truck. I have found out that I need to replace the real seal in the engine as it leaks some oil when the engine is warm. Also the power steering leaks out the gear box. Going to get some new brake rotors and calipers because the brakes seems to "stick" even when I 'm not on the brakes. Didn't notice until last week that the rotors have several "grooves" in them from the brakes sticking. Still runs like a champ though especially after I put new spark plugs and wires on it.

Hey guys not much going on with the truck lately as I stated earlier its a project to work on as I get the money and I haven't got any money. But luckily I start a new job next month and I'll be able to start work on it again. But I was playing around on Google Earth today and I thought about looking at the house I got the truck at and this is where the truck sat for a long time before I got it.

Wow, it's been almost a year since I've updated this thread. Not a whole lot has been done to the truck as the job I had fell apart so haven't had alot of money lately for the truck. I actually bought a burnt 1976 f-150 as a parts truck for mine for only $300. I'm going to post ALOT of pics showing the work that has been done up until today.

keep those pics coming. love the old f100's

i was in a few junkyards in nc/sc lastsummer....it broke my heart to see so many old fords in such great shape in those junkyards...

a cummins and a front dana 60 would be the fate of that truck if it were mine.

More pic to come as I work on it. All it seems to do lately is rain though and I can't get anything done.

Bobby: I like the cummins it's a good engine but I like the 390 way to much to dispose of. I can't afford the price of diesel either haha

depends on how much you drive.

cummins geared and manual 18-24 mpg depending on driving conditions.

never got better then 12 with my ol 390. and that was geared for road going not towing.

for a round towner 390 for sure...it was there and goes....for a driver that runs as much road as guys like me...cummins. way way way cheaper to drive. or 6.5....thats what i got anyway.

Update 10-19-2012

Finally got the rest of the truck put together today. Only thing left to do now is replace the radius arm bushings and finish up the paint. Will be scraping the parts truck next week to be able to buy the paint, bushings, alternator, intake gaskets, coolant temp sender, and a set of used tires

Might be about to get a 85 F-250 4x4 w/460 and manual for free. Was told it needs a new body due to rot, if that's right I think I'll be finding one of these bodies for it. If I keep and build it I think it will eventually end up with a Powerstroke, really like the 7.3L in dad's 2002.
