In my 1992 ranger with 110,000 miles on it, I decided to replace the PS pump since it was whining really badly. I replaced it, got all the air out of the pump and topped off the res. The thing still whines a little bit.

Would a new steering box or something correct the issue? I thought it would all be in the pump, but with a new pump, it still whines under load.

Any ideas?

Sorry to say, but its pretty normal.

I had a 79 f-100 that started making noise and was told to put trans-x in it and it worked great. only added about a 1 inch in the tank and moved wheel back and forth very fast then drove around and it got quite and worked great.

You put Trans Fluid in it right. When I changed mine it took about a 1,000 miles to get it quiet. From your Sig I think you have a 4.0 but if you have a 2.3 like me might want to change the pressure switch to. Helps with idle and probably will get some whines out with the right pressure when you move the wheel.

welcome to owning a ford lol

*gasps* NO!!

I've gotta try this...soon.
