To go the 4 plug head route It's best to swap out the entire motor, harness and ecu (LA3) from a turbo coupe. If you are wanting to stay obd2 I would take your 2.3, throw some forged internals and boost it up to around 12 lbs boost. I'd also run an intercooler. Stock turbo coupes run about 12 psi before the wastegate opens...

Correct. A good tuner like SCT is highly recommended. I have an x2, and will be getting an x3 for my next upgrade...

head will bolt up but you would have to use the 8 plug intake manifold which shouldn't be a problem
To eliminate a coil, ground the two outer wires of the connector going to it and terminate the center wire. To run OBD2 you'll have to make the front seal housing from the '95 that has the crank sensor on it fit the turbo block which should be easy.

About 5-7 psi is all a cast piston will take, but taking it out without tearing the motor down will cause extra machine work, if the block survives...

You can use the stock intake, although I'll be glad to P&P one for ya if your interested. You'll also want bigger injectors (something else I can help you with
). I think the early 4.0's had larger stock maf's you could get and put your sensor on(but you will need to get a tune for sure) until you get a tune you can run the stock maf and just be easy on it (or run the air filter straight to the intake, bypassing the turbo inlet completely) Bov is suggested, especially if you have a manual trans (something else i have in stock ) As far as lag, you will have some lag cause of the size of the turbo compared to the size of the engine, boost should start coming in around 1300 rpm depending on mods done. A tune is highly recommended, as well as an air fuel ratio gauge...Can you tell I was designing a turbo motor? I just may be your one-stop shop for most of your parts SVT
