Headers for gas mileage? Besides at almost 400 probably with shipping that's a lot of gas you could buy...just saying

The only way to get both is to go down hill more.

Google it bro, use the search function, we get..... Sorry, I can't do it and keep a straight face.

Just go down hill more.

If you do things that increase power (such as exhaust) and it is tuned right,it will get better mileage......when you increase efficiency that means gas mileage also. Now if you add a big cam that increases top end power, yes, that will hurt mpg's and low end torque. BUT....increases come in percents and the 2.9L is a small motor so you have to do a lot of things that add a little to add up.

It's possible to gain a lot of power and not hurt mileage, it just isn't cheap or easy, especially for a 2.9.

Keep the truck in top condition, fresh filters every so often. keep tabs on the fluids and tire pressure. Coast up to a red light or stop sign. google hyper miling and pay attention to the air dam and skirting info. From what I have read , putting an enclosure under the length of the chassis will give you a 2 mpg gain. Engine mods are biased in favor of increased power, not mpg.

That is the problem.

Your truck is shaped like a brick.

More power usually means less fuel efficiency. It takes more fuel to make more power.

"Power"..is made up of two things...torque and horsepower. Some mods add more to the high end, some add more to the low end. When you do mods that add more to the low end you will gain mpg's. Yes,you might need to add more fuel to keep the air fuel ratio correct but it does more with less...that is called being more efficient. Do some study for yourself on the subject and don't go by "opinions".

^^ Exactly...I lost 50 lbs and was able to move much more efficiently...

dump the jump seats, toss the crap in the bed, remove the tailgate, and tell the G/F to meet you somewhere instead of hauling her fat ass around...bro!
