ABS speed sensor bolt snapped

So ive got a 91 ranger and had to replace the ABS speed sensor since i was tired of my speedo reading way faster than it should and not having rear abs.

The problem is the bolt snapped that holds it in. I live in north idaho where they use salt, calcium chloride and im fairly certain the blood from the creature in Aliens to keep the roads clear in winter so this isnt exactly unexpected. What was unexpected was how easily it broke. Either im ridiculously strong or the bolt was super soft..... id like to think the former if its ok with all you

Anyway i slapped some super glue on the plastic flange and glued it to the diff for the time being. I also ran it up and down our super bumpy country road at oh-god-im-gonna-die-please-make-it-stop speeds and it didnt come out or leak fluid.

Has anyone had this problem before? Do you think im tempting fate by having it just glued instead of bolted?

never had that problem, but on a '91 that sensor has nothing to do with the speedo, the speedo is driven off of the speedo cable from the rear of the transfer case or transmission (transfer case if 4x4, transmission if 4x2). If it's jumpy it's either a dry speedo cable or the speedometer itself has issues

I thought it was odd too but i read someone else had the same problem and replacing the speed sensor fixed it. In my case as soon as the ABS light came on my speedo would read about 10 miles an hour too fast and hop about neither of which happened when the abs light is off.

Now that i replaced the sensor and the abs light is off the speedo is fine. Im not sure why it happens but im just glad that its fixed.

there's another sensor on the end of the speedo cable, if that one went nuts that would almost make sense as if the speed was changing drastically it would get confused.

It could be, like i said im not sure. Frankly im not sure about exactly what the sensor does anyway. I know its magnetic so i guess it senses how fast the ring gear moves around or?
