Hello, some of you might notice this post already from rangerpowersports.com

But, looking for some different feedback.

I bought these wheels/tires for $700 from a buddy of mine. They are off his cobra. The tires are 275/45/17's. The tires are pretty much brand new, and the wheels have no scraches,rusting,tarnish,or curb rash. Pretty much brand new too.

Well I ask him if these will fit my ranger, and he said yes ive seen rangers run these before, so I felt confident I could probly run a small spacer and install these.

yesterday I went to the local wheel shop, waited for 1 and 1/2 hours to find out these wont fit without a 1" adapter on the front, and maybe back too.


--When they are on the front the wheels wont fit at all without some sort of spacer, and with a 7/16 spacer the wheel hub bearing cap sticks out like a sore thumb.
--With an 1" adapter I can run the center cap, but I think the wheel might stick out like a sore thumb.lol. (Didn't get a look with the adapter on)...

...So I was wondering can I shorten something in the "hub-spindle-assembly"
about an inch or so. So I can use the center cap and fit the wheel well?

Also my truck is a 1992 Ranger xlt, supercab.... Pictures below.......

I ran the same rims and tire size on my '90.

Look at the ridge behind the dust cap. You need to machine that area between the cap and that ridge down to clear the wheel. (maybe just a touch past it.)

You'll want to run a 1" spacer in the rear. (The difference in the axle widths bothered me, and I had to run the spacers!)







I also pulled the dust caps off and reshaped them flat on the front and painted them black. You can see in the first pic how far they stick through.


Edit: No, the ugly red cap was never used on that truck, We just needed a place to store it for a few days.

maybe I can run a front end set up, maybe steal some parts of a mustang.

Somehow I wish I could shorten something on this up to not make the hub stick out soooo much.

And with a 1 inch adapter I think I can clear it but the tires will probably stick out. Maybe an inch?......If its an inch I can try and roll my fenders alittle.




You think I can use a different hub assembly, maybe from a mustang?

well I when home early from work today, so I had time to stop up to the local wheel shop.

I orderd 1" wheel adapters to try out, should be in tomorrow. With that I can run the center cap. Going to see how bad the tire sticks out from the fender.

I was thinking the tires on here are huge, 275/40/17

Wonder if I can shave an inch or so if I get a lesser wide tire.....like a 50, or 55.
